Artist: N.E.R.D.
Composer: Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, Shay Haley
Seeing Sounds is a genre-defying, mind-bending album that’s pure chaos in the best way possible. Pharrell, Chad, and Shay Haley took N.E.R.D’s sound to another level in 2008, inspired by synesthesia—the phenomenon of “seeing” sounds as colors. From the first track, “Time for Some Action,” to the fiery “Spaz,” this album delivers pure energy and attitude, blending rock, funk, and hip-hop with insane beats that make you want to move. Tracks like “Everyone Nose (All the Girls Standing in the Line for the Bathroom)” and “Anti Matter” are brash, fearless, and made to be played loud. It’s an album that makes no apologies, combining funky bass lines, catchy hooks, and intense lyrics, making Seeing Sounds a total experience that brings out the wild side in everyone.

While Seeing Sounds is undeniably a fun, energetic album, the vinyl didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The genre-blending chaos of N.E.R.D’s sound is still there, but some tracks felt a bit muddled on this pressing. Songs like “Spaz” and “Everyone Nose” are full of energy, but the audio quality doesn’t always capture the crispness and punch that this kind of music demands. The album itself is great if you’re a fan of their experimental style, but if you’re looking for audiophile-level quality, this vinyl may leave you wanting a bit more. Still, it’s a solid addition for N.E.R.D fans who love the album and want it on vinyl.

N.E.R.D’s Seeing Sounds is full of energy, and the vinyl captures the chaotic mix of funk, hip-hop, and rock fairly well. However, some tracks, especially the more bass-heavy ones like “Spaz” and “Anti Matter,” sound a bit muddy on this pressing. It’s still an enjoyable listen, but the audio quality didn’t quite reach the level I was hoping for. If you’re a die-hard N.E.R.D fan, it’s worth adding to your collection, but for the casual listener, the sound issues might be noticeable.
